A 30 minute timer

A free 30 minute timer that runs over an animated night library scene, with optional rain, fire or ocean sounds. Opens ready to start, works offline, no account.

Open the 30 minute timer

The button above opens timerz at 30:00 over the Night library scene. Press Space to start.

Thirty minutes is a half hour block: a workout, a study session, a call with a hard stop, or dinner in the oven. For focused work it is a slightly longer pomodoro, and many people prefer it once 25 feels too short.

A useful habit is to split an afternoon into half hour blocks with a task for each, and to check at the end of each block if you are still working on what you planned.

How to use it

  1. Open the timer with the button at the top of this page. It starts paused at 30:00.
  2. Press Space or the play button to start, and Space again to pause.
  3. Turn on ambient sounds with A, or pick music from YouTube in the music panel.
  4. When it ends, the chime plays and the tab title blinks until you come back. Press Space to run it again.

Questions

Can I use 30 minute pomodoros?

Yes. Open settings and set focus to 30 minutes; breaks and long breaks stay as you set them. This page opens a single 30 minute countdown instead, without the cycle.

Is timerz free?

Yes. Every scene, sound and feature is free, with no account and no ads. If it helps you, you can leave a tip on Ko-fi, or become a supporter once (pay what you want, from 5 dollars, on Gumroad) to unlock your own photo as a scene and two extra fonts. There is no subscription.

Does timerz work offline?

Yes. timerz is a progressive web app. After the first visit the app, its scenes and sounds are cached, and you can install it on your desktop or phone. Only the YouTube music needs internet.

Where is my data stored?

In your browser, using localStorage. Settings, tasks and session history never leave your device. There is no server and nothing to sign up for. You can export your history as JSON or erase everything from settings.

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. The timer stores when it started and derives the remaining time from the clock, so a background tab, a sleeping laptop or a page reload do not make it drift. The remaining time also shows in the tab title.
